Opiate addiction is on the rise across America and it is becoming a big problem. Simple pain treatments can grow into serious addictions and even illicit drug use. One of the main ways that addiction is treated is Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT). Methadone treatment, which involves doling out a Schedule II narcotic to replace other more harmful addictive drugs, has its own pitfalls that attorneys should look out for. This presentation will address some of the dangers specific to methadone treatment and issues that commonly arise when methadone clinics depart from accepted standards of care.
